muh-muhs for you - free pattern

do you remember this little striped shawl...?

found some nice ladies who went through the pattern and
encountered all the bugs i wrote into (hehehe!!)

so finally the pattern is released - and it's free!
get your english version here
aaaaand the german version here in the shop, where i also
got the yarn for this

this was just the right shawl for our rainy, cold and grey
spring here in germany - i wore it till last weekend....
would anyone trust me when i tell you that we had 10° celsius
on 1st of june?????

....but now to my current projects

marsa alam is in testing right now, and i plan to publish
the pattern in july (or maybe a little sooner...;)

working on a few testknits (all secret testknits...so i
am not allowed to show you these beauties...sorry)

and have some new ideas on my needles
a maritime sweater (fingering weight with stripes and a
little twist)
and an open front cardi with a beautiful cable panel down
the fronts

ha! not forgetting my second emerald

this time with long sleeves, folded hems and contrast color
on the quilted band
think this turned out quite cool, right?

for adding the contrast color you only need to work
rows 1, 4, 5 and 8 of the quilting pattern in contrast color
that's it...

i now need to do some house cleaning,...that we can spend the
evening outdoors with our friends (we will go for a bbq in the
neighbourhood of our construction area....our old house!)

have a nice day,

isa m.

with a little twist

when i saw Julies torque i knew that i needed one for me
a cute little hat with a twist

mindless st st (the hat is worked inside out - no purls)
perfect project while reading or watching tv :)
i always have projects in that kind on one of my needles
sometimes i need pure st st, no thinking, just knitting....
i worked with a selfstriping grey sockyarn and did contrast
coloured stripes for the lining of this hat -
after finishing i liked my lining much more, so i will wear
this inside out

pattern. torsion by Julie Knits
yarns. jawoll magic col. 84.0005 and trekking pro natura col. 1505

...anyone interested in a little testknit?
just need a few more testers for this
this time there is a deadline - like to have the test finished
till the end of october (think this is plenty of time - it's
a shortsleeved one!)

have a nice sunday

isa k.

driftwood pattern

it's done!!!
so happy to share the newest member of my beach
collection with you ;)
all (hihihi, not all, but most;) my lovely testers are through
and i am ready to publish the pattern for driftwood today

get your copy here

i wanna thank the girls for their help and their outstanding
work with this pattern THANK YOU ALL!!
some testing ladies said that the armhole is quiet long,
so i changed the pattern here and hope that the fit is now
better, though i liked it as it was before...
(but i think that doesn't affect the look that much)

my current work for now is to test this cardi for Judy.
laceweight!!! think i will be occupied with this for a while...

also planning to get the pattern for chalkstone ready to test
in 2 or 3 weeks (the raw version is ready, so i only (haha) have to check the numbers and my stupid english)

...and there is another new sweater blocking right now....

looove how this turned out and i love the colour!!
knitted with fingering weight yarn on 4 mm [US 6] needles
more details to come....

hope you all have good days
isa k.

on the beach - free pattern

couldn't keep the promise publishing the
pattern for my new sweater earlier....
the only excuse i have is, that we had birthday season

my two owlsisters, my mother, a coworker and me, myself and i celebrated our birthdays over the last 3 - 4 weeks
so i had a lot to do with presents and parties.....
tuesday we celebrated my (40!....ugh!) birthday with family and
friends.... loads of goodies and much more presents..(hahaha)
so here is my gift for you

download your copy here

truly hope that there are no major errors in the pattern -
not all of my kind testers are ready with the testknitting...

but you all know, if there is anything to clear or help,
i will do my very best to answer all your questions.

for now i'm working on another version of this sweater -
dark blue with narrow white stripes, hope to get ready with
the second sleeve to show it the next week...?!

also the monkey sweater is ready (need to take some pix!!)
it turned out sooooo cute, maybe too cute for a 40 year old....?

tomorrow i will spend the day in cologne, got an invitation
from our lys to accompany them to the trade fair h+h cologne
maybe i can show a few pix on sunday

have nice days
isa k.

stashbusting - skihase [free pattern]

would you trust me, if i told you that i prepared this post
in december? i really have to work on my time management

the hat itself is simple and easy to knit
i had a few skeins of merino 70 laying around and i
truly have to reduce my stash!

you could also use any other bulky yarn that knits up
to the gauge.
the pompom is made out of lambskin

materials:
merino 70 by LANG YARNS
2 skeins in maincolour
1 skein of each contrastcolour
you will need about 140 meter [153 yards] in total

5 mm [US 8] circulars 40 cm [16"] long and dpns

gauge: 16.5 sts x 23 rows in St st
size: one size (to fit head circumference 54-61 cm [21-24"])

adjust the size easily by adding/reducing multiples of 2 sts

CO 72 sts and join to knit in rounds
pm at beg of round
rnd 1-10:   *k tbl, p1 around
rnd 11 (inc rnd): *k4, m1 around (90 sts)

rnd 56:     k around
rnd 57 (dec rnd): *k2, k2tog; rep from* around (36 sts)
rnd 58 (dec rnd): *k2tog around (18 sts)
cut yarn, pull through rem sts and weave in ends

abbreviations:
CO:     cast on
st(s):  stitch(es)
pm:     place marker
beg:    begin
rnd(s): round(s)
k:      knit
p:      purl
k tbl:  knit through backloop
inc:    increase
dec:    decrease
k2tog:  knit 2 sts together
rep:    repeat

did a second one with scraps of the same yarn

samples are ready

the samples for both contiguous projects/patterns are ready!

as i said before the cardi is on the big side -
it was intended to be comfortable, but i'm not sure
if i have to edit the stcounts?!

the simple contiguous-for-beginners v-neck sweater turned out
great (if i may say so?) knitted on a loose gauge with
2 nonlabled yarns i had in my stash for a long, long time

so my work for the next days will be to write clean copies
of the patterns and check the numbers, that we hopefully
could start the testing next week?! (or the week after next  :))

have creative days
isa k.

DIY advent wreath

i know it's a bit early for x-mas crafting
especially when it is such a quick and easy project..

but i couldn't resist posting
what i did last night.. :)

a super cute knitted advent wreath

all you need is some bulky yarn
matching needles,
one straw wreath (don't know if this is the right word?!)
tapestry needle,
crepe paper matching the yarns colour
ribbon and some decoration

and here is the how-to:

measure around your straw wreath
to figure out the width of your knitting
you also have to measure, or calculate the circumference
of your wreath

in my case this was about 18 cm in width
and the circumference was 94 cm

make a swatch with your yarn

my yarn knits up to a gauge of 1 st per cm

provisionally co the st amount you need to get the desired width
and begin working in garter st
you will not need to knit to the total length
cause this will stretch out very much

you may want to check the length from time to time
i didn't do that, so i had to ripp back a few rows

now undo the provisional co and graft
the pieces together

you can see that i grafted knitwise
to have some plain space for my ribbon

cut your crepe paper in 7cm straps
and wrap around your wreath

now place the knitted piece on your wreath

and do a simple whipstitchseam
to get your wreath wrapped with your knitted piece

and decorate.....

hope a few like this as much as i do

happy crafting

isa k.

ready

my new hat,
knitted a few more of these for friends, but never had time to take pics
so here is my very own one!!!
plain and simple with just enough slouch

worked with 2 yarns held together
brim worked flat in garter st
body of hat in rounds in stst

you will need about 150 m alpaca superlight and the same amount of merino 120
from LANG YARNS
circulars and dpns US size 8

and, if you like, pom-poms, buttons, embroidery thread, .....to embellish the little hat

see this post for inspiration

here is what I did:

gauge was 20 sts = 10 cm

headband:
CO 10 sts, work in garter st for 64 rows ridges, BO all sts
sew BO edge to CO edge to form a ring

pick up 96 sts around ring and join to knit in rounds
work in st st until body of hat measures 14 cm ( without band)
beg decreasing:

rnd 1: *k10, k2tog; rep from* to end
k 3 rnds
rnd 5: k4, k2tog, *k9, k2tog; rep from* to last 5 sts, k5
k 2 rnds
rnd 8: k2tog, *k8, k2tog; rep from* to last 8 sts, k8
k 1 rnd

k 1 rnd
rnd 14: *k1, k2tog; rep from* to end
k 1 rnd
rnd 15 + 16: k2tog around

cut yarn, leaving an end for sewing. draw through rem sts, pull up tightly
and weave in end.

new year, new blog

starting this new blog with my first written pattern .....

 muse
a little shrug

you will need:
about 500 m bulky yarn to get gauge
7mm needles or size to get gauge
7mm dpns or size to get gauge
tapestry needle

gauge: 12 sts = 10 cm in double moss st

double moss st (or double seed st):
multiple of 4 sts
row 1: *k2, p2; repeat to end
row 2: *k2, p2; repeat to end
row 3: *p2, k2; repeat to end
row 4: *p2, k2; repeat to end
rep rows 1 - 4

garter st:
worked flat:
RS and WS k all sts

worked in rounds:
rnd 1: k all sts
rnd 2: p all sts
rep rnds 1 - 2

the main part of muse is knitted flat, shaped with shortrows, sts are picked up
for the ribbing, then you have to fold the piece in half and sew a few inches together,
sleeve sts are picked up to knit the sleeves in rounds, collar is worked seperately
then seamed to the fronts of the main part.

CO 78 sts and start working double moss st:
rows 1 + 4:
*k2, p2; rep to last 2 sts, k2
rows 2 + 3:
*p2, k2; rep to last 2 sts, p2

continue working rows 1 - 4 until work measures 40 cm from CO.

shortrow shaping:
RS: knit 30 sts in pattern, turn
WS: Sl 1, knit in pattern to end
RS: knit 28 sts in pattern, turn
WS: Sl 1, knit in pattern to end
RS: knit 26 sts in pattern, turn
WS: Sl 1, knit in pattern to end
continue working shortrows 5 times more

next row: knit in pattern to end
next row: knit 30 sts in pattern, turn
next row: Sl 1, knit in pattern to end
next row: knit 28 sts in pattern, turn
next row. Sl 1, knit in pattern to end
rep shortrows as you did on the other side
ending with a RS row

next row: BO all sts.

now we have to pick up sts for the ribbed bottom:
pick up and knit the middle 38 sts of the CO edge
work k1, p1 rib for a total of 8 rows
BO all sts.

next step is to sew the sides together:
fold piece to half, bring CO edge to BO edge to form a rectangle; leaving 14 cm open (measured from the fold) on both sides for armholes, sew sides together.

pick up sts to knit the sleeves:
pick up and knit 38 sts around armhole, join to knit in rounds.
knit in garter st to desired length, BO all sts.

work second sleeve to match

now pick up sts around fronts and neck,
k 3 rows Stst, BO all sts

CO 25 sts for collar and work back and forth in garter st until collar is long enough to match the fronts and neck. BO in pattern.
sew collar to the front opening, weave in ends and wear with proud.

this pattern is for personal use only

Se non usate i ferri a doppie punte, non cucite.
riprendere le m per fare le maniche:
riprendere e lav al dir 38m attorno allo scalfo e lav a legaccio fino alla lunghezza desiderata, poi chiudere.
