News and older tales....

just realized that i didn't keep the promise to post right after our "meeting" at Frankfurt airport....shame on me (but i think you know me already quite well and this is no surprise)

we had some incredible hours together....when i saw Jo sitting at the table in this italian coffee shop at the airport it was like a reunion of good old friends...not faint-hearted at all, we saw each other and the minute later we were in each others arms ;)
there was a lot of giggling and laughing, loads of yarn and coffee and way too less time (but we will meet again...sooner than we both hoped for ;))

seams that the upcoming season will be filled with neutrals and blue (hahaha...)

in the meantime (while Jo was travelling around the world....Helsinki, St.Petersburg...)I did some knitting (haha...how extraordinary ;)

seashore was released 2 weeks ago, after a wonderful test-KAL
with some outstanding ladies who never get tired to help me with testing my patterns
you can see all the incredible "seashores" they made during the test here in the test thread

finished a quick in-between-testknit for Justyna (Lete)
to practice my still not-good-at-all stranding skills....
because i signed in for 2 colorwork designs for Swans Island...

col.natural/beige and dark blue

aaaaand my first (yes there will be a second one...) pattern for Yarn Stories is live!
I did the sample in early august and need to confess that i didn't like the colour they picked for my design, but......it looks so freaking cool on this beautiful model!!!!

for today i need to leave...need to do up a parcel (sample of the first colorwork design for Swans Island)

looks pretty good, right?

take care out there

Elementary

finally finished my last sweater
and i need to confess....i am in love!!!!

worked from the top down with an navajo inspired colorful yoke
in some really girlie colors!!!!
(somehow the little girl in me wanted PINK!)

lately i rediscovered the pleasure to work with
pure, rustic, low-processed yarns
love the feel of this yarn (and its smell ;))
....aaaand such yarns are perfect for those who have
not much practice in colorwork (like me!)

the pattern is now ready to test
and we have some free places in the testing pack
(maybe some of you could have fun with us testing the pattern?
deadline would be the end of january/beg of february....)

yarn. rustique fine/ masgot fine by Sylvie (PoloandCo)
needles. 3.0 mm and 3.5 mm
gauge. 22.5 sts x 30 rounds (10 x 10 cm)

you will need approx. 2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4) skeins in main color
and 1 skein in each of the other colors

if you like to test this pattern, please leave a comment
(make sure to leave your email add or ravelry nickname!)
with the size you'd like to test

new sweater

tadaaa.... a new fair isle sweater went off my needles!!!
only 2 colours (i need to practice, practice , practice
to be good in this technique)

started with a provisional co to work the yoke first
and bottom up (to check my decrease rounds for yoke shaping)
then unravelled the provisional co to work the rest of the
sweater topdown - to be able to put it on and see how it fits.
this was a pretty good way i think....

need to check my notes and hopefully i am able to write
a pattern down (not sure)

yarn. Kauni solid col. HH3 and DD1 purchased here

i have ordered some more colours of this yarn....there is
a cardi in my mind which wants to be knitted :)

otherwise i am occupied with sorting out my little home
....lousy!!!
it's curious how many things you can store in a house
you don't need at all!
renovation will start in april and we need to move
(and we don't have a flat to rent yet!!! ),
there are some serious things to do here in this house...
it's a very, very old house (built in 1789) and no one knows
what to expect....
our architect (a good, good friend of us) estimated a renovation time of nearly 1 year!!!! hopefully it will take not that time.
oooh, but it will be worth this effort, i'm sure.
there will be new and bigger windows, new floors, a new
heating, a new roof, the use of the rooms will change
(our kitchen will move to the other side of the house!)
...and so on

think i will post more renovation related things this year
.....

hope you are all coming with me this year

refined driftwood and a sneak peek

a little sign of life....

so busy days over here, that i can hardly save time to
post about those things i spend my time on...(hmmm...)

did a refined version of driftwood lately
fingering weight yarn
fine stripes
more fitted
.....aaaand a little add on to the buttonband
(which i like the best!!)

yarn. kauni effect in col. EB
and kauni solid in col. HH3
needles. 3.5 mm [US 4] and 3.0 mm [US 2 1/2]
pattern. driftwood by (me.. hihihi)

hope to save some time over the holidays to write down
my adjustments, so everyone of you can make one too :)

the next sweater is already blocked, but no modeled pix yet, sorry!
worked the yoke bottom up;
did a provisional co of all yoke sts and worked from that point to top, then unravelled the provisional co and worked the
sweater topdown, to be sure the fit is as good as it should :))
placed the colourwork on the yoke and on the bottoms of the sleeves and the body, like this
and i loooove it, just cannot take it off (LOL....i can!
cause there are sooo many sweaters to be worn in my closet)

also working on a little test for Jo
(simplicity at its best - a cardi with some colour details)
hope to be allowed to show it soon

stay calm and have bright days

started a new project after finishing the secret testknit
i did the last two weeks

totally in love with this fair isle thingy!!!

but i looooove the possibilities...

this will be seriously the coolest monkey sweater in my wardrobe
[it's the only one!] hahahaha.....

only the sleeves to finish - so i think i can wear this
next week!!!
